{"id":967,"date":"2013-06-23T19:07:11","date_gmt":"2013-06-24T00:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.richarsenault.com\/content\/?p=967"},"modified":"2013-06-23T19:08:39","modified_gmt":"2013-06-24T00:08:39","slug":"a-posing-puffin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.richarsenault.com\/content\/2013\/06\/a-posing-puffin\/","title":{"rendered":"A Posing Puffin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a photography adventure in New England &#8211; head on up to Cutler, Maine to hang out with a few thousand <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Puffin\" target=\"_blank\">puffins<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0 They migrate every year to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Machias_Seal_Island\" target=\"_blank\">Machias Seal Island<\/a><\/strong> which is just 10 miles off the coast of Cutler. \u00a0Here are a couple tips to get you started:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Call Captain Andy at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boldcoast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bold Coast Charter Company<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to book your trip from Cutler to the island. \u00a0His<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boldcoast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> <\/strong>has all the details and he was awesome. \u00a0An excellent captain and full of details and humor on the trip and back.<\/li>\n<li>Call Ellen &amp; Rocky at the<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.riversideinn-maine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Riverside Inn &amp; Restaurant<\/a><\/strong> and reserve a room for the weekend. \u00a0They have 4 rooms at their B&amp;B in East Machias, which is just 20-25 minutes from the boat launch. \u00a0You will probably have to be at the boat launch around 7am, so stay at the inn the night before, and make a reservation for dinner as well. \u00a0Rocky is an amazing chef and you don&#8217;t want to miss out on what he creates with fresh fish and scallops.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a great way to spend a weekend. \u00a0It may be too late in the season to make it this year (Andy&#8217;s trips fill up fast) so if you want to go another time put a reminder on your calendar to call him in the beginning of March. \u00a0Yes, really, call in early March!
