{"id":743,"date":"2013-01-06T19:37:20","date_gmt":"2013-01-07T00:37:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.richarsenault.com\/content\/?p=743"},"modified":"2013-01-06T19:37:20","modified_gmt":"2013-01-07T00:37:20","slug":"bacon-wrapped-cheddar-tots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.richarsenault.com\/content\/2013\/01\/bacon-wrapped-cheddar-tots\/","title":{"rendered":"Bacon Wrapped Cheddar Tots"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Weekly Photo &#8211; Bacon Wrapped Cheddar Tots<\/h3>\n<p>For about 3 years the subtitle for this blog has been &#8220;Photography, Family, &amp; Food&#8221;, yet with 70 posts not 1 has actually involved food! \u00a0Well, other then <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.richarsenault.com\/content\/2010\/02\/pic-a-week-6-%E2%80%93-playing-with-food\/\" target=\"_blank\">photographing strawberries<\/a><\/strong> a while back, but I don&#8217;t think that counts. So today we finally start up a new category, with Bacon Wrapped Cheddar Tots. \u00a0These little bacon wrapped wonders were excellent.<\/p>\n<p>This idea came from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/noblepig.com\/2012\/12\/bacon-jalapeno-wrapped-tater-tots-with-jack-cheese-dipping-sauce\/\" target=\"_blank\">NoblePig.com<\/a><\/strong>, but I swapped out the\u00a0jalapenos\u00a0for cheddar cheese and baked them instead of fried:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/portfolio.richarsenault.com\/Food\/Cooking-Experiments\/27436835_HDcd6b#!i=2307758370&amp;k=QZxRwnb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" alt=\"Bacon Wrapped Cheddar Tots\" src=\"http:\/\/portfolio.richarsenault.com\/Food\/Cooking-Experiments\/i-QZxRwnb\/0\/M\/BaconWrappedCheddarTots-M.jpg\" width=\"544\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Tater Tots were first thawed, then placed in the center of a 4&#8243; strip of bacon, topped with a slice of cheese, wrapped, and pierced with a toothpick. <a href=\"http:\/\/portfolio.richarsenault.com\/Food\/Cooking-Experiments\/27436835_HDcd6b#!i=2307761675&amp;k=VfRcP5g\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/portfolio.richarsenault.com\/Food\/Cooking-Experiments\/i-VfRcP5g\/0\/S\/MakingBaconWrappedCheddarTots-S.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"212\" \/><\/a>I baked them on a tray which had a primary goal of keeping them out of the bacon\u00a0grease, but the holes also worked perfectly to keep them upright by putting the toothpicks through the holes.<\/p>\n<p>I think the next time (there WILL be a next time) I&#8217;ll try a few with jalapeno, but also a few with a different cheese. \u00a0Sharp cheddar was a little too strong and I think they need a cheese which melts better. \u00a0Any suggestions?<\/p>\n<p>I may also have to try frying them like Cathy at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/noblepig.com\/2012\/12\/bacon-jalapeno-wrapped-tater-tots-with-jack-cheese-dipping-sauce\/\" target=\"_blank\">NoblePig<\/a><\/strong> did &#8211; hers look incredibly crispy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<a href=\"https:\/\/www.richarsenault.com\/content\/2013\/01\/bacon-wrapped-cheddar-tots\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.richarsenault.com\/content\/wp-content\/plugins\/thumbnail-for-excerpts\/tfe_no_thumb.png\" class=\"alignleft wp-post-image tfe\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/a><p>Weekly Photo &#8211; Bacon Wrapped Cheddar Tots For about 3 years the subtitle for this blog has been &#8220;Photography, Family, &amp; Food&#8221;, yet with 70 posts not 1 has actually involved food! \u00a0Well, other then photographing strawberries a while back, but I don&#8217;t think that counts.
